Post-Valentine's Recap...

Hello Kids...

I hope you all had a great candy filled week of hearts and love. In honor of all the many Valentine festivities people have enjoyed since last week I've decided to do a quick recap of some Valentine's fun.

My fiancé and I spent our Valentine's weekend with friends. We ate the BEST lasagna ever and had a great time with absolutely no sign of flowers or heart shaped boxes of candy. I was very happy with our low-key celebration of love, love of friends being of key importance to us.

About 2000 miles from here there was a much wilder Valentine's Day celebration happening. Vegas Weddings where I'll be getting married had a ton of fun Valentine's Day events taking place. The first and most sentimental of these events was the introduction of the newest way to express unity in marriage. Vegas Weddings unveiled LOVELOCKS!!! The official statement says,

"An Ancient Chinese symbol declaring one’s love locked forever. Here at Vegas Weddings we have a Lovescape for couples, families and friends to participate in such a tradition! This can be added on to any ceremony package for a couple who is looking for something unique to add to their special day! Families that are blending children into the mix might find this a special way to include the kids and will create a great photo opportunity has well. These locks are available here for the great price of $25.00 a lock and they can use our Inscriblio to personally engrave them with names, dates and special messages. The couples can then place their Lovelock on the beautiful Lovescape located in “The Fastlane” or take the lock home to a gate or fence in their own yard."

Frankly I think this is such a sweet idea and what a better way to remember how much love is shared between two people then to look at this symbol. A lock with no key, forever holding these two people together so that they may love continuously. I think this while far less flashy then some of the other Vegas Weddings events last week were by far the sweetest.

I'm sure you also want to know about the more flashy events from the Vegas Weddings Valentine's Day. While many things happened last week at Vegas Weddings the two must see items are the Wedding Zip-line through the middle of Fremont Street and the Boxer Wedding (and when I say Boxer I mean two Boxers...Dogs that is). In order to see the photos from the Boxer Wedding and the Video of the Zip-Line Bride and Groom I must direct you to the Vegas Weddings facebook page http://www.facebook.com/VegasWeddings feel free to take a look. The photo's and video are just even more proof of how awesome Vegas Weddings can be. From flashy to sentimental and sweet Vegas Weddings has it all.

I do hope all of you had a great Valentine's Day. And as always feel free to visit us anytime with your curiosities, comments or questions :)

When Good Brides Go Bad...

Hello Kids...

Here we are again in Blog-Land. I promised to cover a wedding book for all of you readers out there and I found an amazing wedding humor book to share with all of you. My fiancé bought me this book because it was one of the few wedding books he has found interesting. Everyone who has flipped through these glorious pages with me has laughed a great deal. Why so much laughter you ask? Because this book contains hilarious wedding photos, and if brides cannot laugh at being a bride what can they laugh at?

May I introduce to you, for your wedding humor enjoyment...

Brides Behaving Badly Wild Wedding Photos You Were Never Meant to See

By Bev West and Jason Bergund

http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/books_9780446699167.htm

This book is so great because it offers a quick and joyous reality check to the over extended and very serious Bride in the middle of wedding planning. By laughing at ones Bride-ness with the help of hilarious Bridal photos we can all breath a sigh of relief. It's a wedding and every wedding is a wonderful event. Sometimes funny but nonetheless wonderful. I suggest that all of the Brides and Grooms out there take a look and have a laugh with this funny little book. If you have any fabulous wedding books to share with us please do and feel free to visit us anytime with your curiosities, comments or questions :)

I'm Back!!!

Hello Kids...

I know it's been too long but I'm back now. I've been away from a reliable internet connection and am happy to be back online. So why was I away you ask? I was on a nice mountain vacation with my fiancé’s family. It was a blast; we had lots of fun together. Now I just need to get my fiancé up north to visit my vast and fabulous family. There are so many people he hasn't met yet. The Smokey Mountains are one of the things our two families share. My mom and I used to get there on vacation when I was a kid and visited more when I was in college near Knoxville. My fiancé’s family also spent many a family vacation in those mountains. Needless to say he and I love going for a mountain getaway whenever possible. We spent our first vacation together there and I gather it will be a place our future children will come to know and love.

While on this trip another fabulous thing happened. My fiancé’s littlest sister got engaged!!! So I want to send out BIG Congratulations to Brittany and Jon!!! I'm so excited for them...and now we get to be total girls and talk about fabulous wedding stuff :)

As far as my continuing adventures in the land of long distance wedding planning I've been focusing mostly on the budget and saving. Right now we really need to start sending out deposits so we can lock in our date before designing and printing our Save The Date cards.

While working on that I've also been checking out wedding advice books, destination wedding books and the best of all wedding humor books. Wedding books must be a billion dollar business because there are tons of them. My favorite of all of these are the wedding humor books. I really had no idea that those even existed but boy-o-boy they are fun. Later this week once I've finished looking over some I'll review one of these wedding humor books for all of you. It has been my recent experience that when wedding planning has you stressed laughing about weddings helps!!!

Be on the look out for my next blog on wedding humor books and feel free to visit us anytime with your curiosities, comments or questions :)

Chocolate What???

Hello Kids...

Welcome back to another fun filled blog about my Vegas wedding journey. The wedding planning is currently coasting because I'm back in school. Small things get done here and there but nothing major has happened since my last post. Tonight I want to talk about Valentine's Day. Yes, the upcoming holiday where happy couples give the same old flowers and candy to one another. I have never been big on Valentine's Day nor do I like flowers or boxes of assorted chocolates. I know you're thinking, what's not to like about flowers and assorted chocolates? Flowers in my opinion are a waste of money unless they are still alive. Long stem roses are going to die in a few days and are not worth the money in my book. Therefore I have a "No Flower" rule and my fiancé is great about finding ways to celebrate this holiday without paying for the honor of killing plants for me. Assorted Chocolates are a problem because I throw half of them out. I will always love a cute box of Carmel Turtles but give me a milk chocolate filled with raspberry crème and you can watch me make a weird face before running to the trash can. All of this leads me to tonight’s topic, awesome and untraditional Valentine's Day candy!!! If you are looking for something to get that someone special here are my delicious and unusual suggestions.

Chocolate...

* Chocolate Covered Bacon

* Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

* Red Fire Chocolate Tortilla Chips

* Bacon Carmel Toffee

* Chocolate covered gummy bears

And other yummy treats...

* Gummy Organs Heart

* Bacon Carmel Toffee

* Marshmallow Flowers

* Maple Sugar Hearts

* Warheads Candy Heart

If your special someone would like a break from tradition any of these treats would be great. But if these seem too risky feel free to take my share of the flowers and assorted chocolates this Valentine's Day and pass them along to your sweetie. Please feel free to tell me about your favorite traditional or unusual Valentine's Day Candy or Gift :)

Another Day, Another Dollar...

Hello Kids...

Today was a busy day in Grad School Land so I didn't get any wedding planning done. Some day’s school just takes up all my time. I was able to pick up an extra shift this week at my restaurant job so that will be helpful and my ebay selling is in full swing.

Making money for the bills plus wedding savings is a tough task. I have been trying to find more part time work and I am taking a load of spring and summer clothing to the consignment shop tomorrow. Of all the wedding planning I do I spend more time planning how to make money than anything else. I have a goal of saving $16-$17 dollars a day by cutting costs to help come up with 10 Thousand Dollars and that is proving to be a very hard task. But I have come up with some money saving tips to help all of those budget brides out there.

Tips...

*Combine trips to save gas, plot errands by distance and stay as close to home as possible. Just make fewer trips.

*Cut the name brands, from gas to soda go generic and put those pennies back for the wedding.

*Start a bank account just for the wedding. That way you don't mix up your savings and spend the wedding money on other things.

*Cut out your daily splurge (Coffee House Caffeine Fix, Gossip Magazine, King-Size Candy Bars)

*Cut out that extra bath or shower, pack the dishwasher and washing machine full rather then doing lots of small loads.

These are just a start, cutting back anywhere possible and selling whatever you have not used recently will also help. Remember that cleaning out the attic or garage may bring in money. There's so much we don't use that can be turned into wedding savings.

That's all for tonight kids. I hope these tips are helpful, check back for more tips and wedding adventures. And as always please take a look at our online interests below. 1 Year, 7 Months & 3 Days!!!

The Perfect Chapel...

Hello Kids...

Welcome to another fun filled blog about my journey towards my fabulous Vegas wedding. We have finally settled on our wedding chapel. After many trips to visit Vegas wedding venues and the array of experiences that comes with each venue we have chosen our chapel. And our chapel is...Drum Roll Please...Vegas Weddings!!! With the amazing staff, beautiful chapel and great location Vegas Weddings was an easy choice.

The Chapel Run Down...

We found this chapel mostly on accident. I had read fabulous reviews about Vegas Weddings but was unaware that they had a new chapel right around the corner from the marriage license office. We found this gorgeous new chapel while we were following a bus with an M&M wrap trying to take a picture of it...yes a silly way to find a chapel but I'm so glad we followed that bus. From the outside the chapel looks like a historic building with lovely stonework, I was surprised to discover it was only 18 months old. The building offers not only a lovely chapel but also the now legendary Vegas Drive-Thru Wedding option. We will be using the chapel upstairs that features stained glass windows, lovely decor and pews rather then chairs for guests. The pews and the stained glass really did it for me, we wanted something totally Vegas but without losing the whole feel of a nice church wedding. Vegas Weddings offers the perfect balance for us.

Enough about the building let me tell you about the staff, everyone we have spoken to there has been totally dedicated to helping me plan my wedding. I've now spoken with about 5 different people at Vegas Weddings both on the phone and in person. Each and every one of them was 100% ready to help. They answered every question I had from upgraded flower estimates to sharing DVD's of sample ceremonies with me. Vegas Weddings gets an A+ and two thumbs up for customer service!!!

Of course as I can guess all of you Vegas Brides out there want to know the price tag for a top-notch wedding with Vegas Weddings. Well, I'm glad to tell you that they have a package for every budget. The packages currently range from $199 to $2,799. They are also very helpful if there are things you need to add to the package you have chosen. My experience has been that Vegas Weddings will make sure to help you get every detail of your wedding taken care of so your big day can be smooth and enjoyable. I honestly cannot wait to have my wedding here. I feel confident that my day will be beautiful because the amazing staff at Vegas Weddings is ready to help me relax and enjoy my big day.

For those of you who have already walked down the aisle and want to commemorate your long-standing love with a vow renewal I can also recommend Vegas Weddings to you. Whether a vow renewal or your first wedding, these ceremonies are about love. Vegas Weddings is dedicated to helping you celebrate your love in beautiful ceremonies.

Okay, okay, I know I'm gushing about the chapel but really I'm beyond happy that I found this place. It's a great balance of Vegas with a traditional feel and the one on one service that makes me feel 100% confident in my wedding venue choice.
