The Wedding Photo Adventure...

Hello Kids…

Now that I have shaken the post Vegas Wedding jetlag and have gotten back into the routine of everyday life; it’s time to tell everyone some more fun stories about our wonderful wedding day. We pretty much banned all cameras with the exception of the one Ron Miller was carrying. I’m sure many of you in Vegas have heard his name and the rest of you are saying “Who’s this Ron Miller guy?” Well Ron is the AMAZING photographer we hired to take our wedding photos. Not only are his pictures breathtaking he also happens to be a really fun guy to have following you around on your wedding night. He was up for anything and handled our last minute changes with precision.

Our photo journey began at about 7:30pm in the Bridal Suite at Vegas Weddings (the wonderful chapel who made our perfect Vegas Wedding happened). In the bridal suite Ron and I chatted and the picture taking began. That is when Ron met our Lego people for the first time. Yes, Lego’s the toy you may remember from a childhood of building “the tallest tower EVER!” Bill and I had a custom Lego Bride and Groom made to look as much like us as little plastic people can. Little did Ron or anyone else know we had a plan to document not only our wedding day journey but the little Lego Bill & Erica’s adventures as well. Most of the pictures our family has seen are pictures of these Lego people since the wonderful photo’s Ron took are being saved for a super special reveal in the near future. As the wedding began the photography followed a pretty normal flow with family pictures in the chapel after the wedding. After that we headed out for some street shots. Once we left the chapel the real adventure began.

First we hit our hotel room in the Cosmopolitan for some more personal pictures and yes the Lego people got fancy hotel room pictures too. From there we went to the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. Here we saw one of Ron’s finely honed skills; he managed to shoot our sign pictures without us having to chase away tourists and without us waiting in the not so organized tourist line!!! I won’t be giving away any of his secrets but it was pretty awesome…I had always worried about getting that picture with all the people click, click, clicking their cell phones and cameras. From this major picture success we moved to the next stop on our photo tour of Vegas, Fremont Street.

Down on Fremont Street we met up with our family and friends who had attended the wedding, enjoyed a quick snack and went right back into photo shoot mode. We took a few pictures by the neon signs of old Las Vegas and then moved on to the location of the bouquet toss, Drink & Drag. Once inside the fabulous bar with bowling, drag queen cocktail waitresses and some of the coolest locals Vegas has to offer we began to plot the bouquet toss with the staff. This would be our most exciting photo opportunity of the night. Ron was ready to go and got the entire bouquet toss which welcomed every single person in the place to participate. The young man who caught the bouquet was overjoyed and got some pictures with us as well. Once that was over the Lego people had their turn getting pictures taken in all kinds of interesting places, on bowling balls for instance. After enjoying the fun atmosphere and amazing staff at Drink & Drag we headed out for one last stop to my favorite place in Vegas, Frankies Tiki Room.

I’d like to note that by this time we had gone over our pre-purchased time with Ron and he was a wonderful sport in agreeing to stay out with us. We really appreciate his willingness to add time on for us at the last minute. Once we got to Frankies Tiki Room we were able to get some more wonderful shots. The bar is dark and has tons of character; we enjoyed some Tiki drinks in custom Frankies mugs and finished off our evening of picture taking in grand fashion.

Along the way there were some photos snapped by my relatives or by-standers but the honest truth is we relied entirely on Ron for 6+ hours of shooting. This not only allowed my family to enjoy themselves without lugging a camera but it ensured that we had a wide variety of amazing photos to remember our wedding night by. My advice to all brides is this, once your big days is over all you get to keep are the memories. Photographs help keep those memories fresh. Please take my advice on this if on nothing else; hire a professional photographer, make him or her, a priority in your budget because it is truly worth EVERY PENNY you spend. If you are in Vegas, surrounding areas or want to fly in a fabulous photographer I highly recommend Ron Miller, he can be found at:  http://www.ronmphoto.com/ . Ron is wonderful at navigating last minute changes, he’s a fun guy to hang out with and most importantly his pictures are amazing. He has an eye that I do not fully understand, he captured moments in ways I could not imagine. Thanks so much Ron…you are by far the BEST!!!
