# 9…

Hello Kids…

Today is the second day of the “10 ‘Must Sees’ During Your Wedding Visit to Las Vegas” blog series. Each day we will introduce you to a fun Vegas experience that everyone should check out for a great Wedding Visit to Vegas. Without further ado…

# 9…

The Lion Habitat at MGM Grand is free and open to the public everyday from 11AM-7PM. It’s a great place to see and learn about Lions and why MGM Grand has chosen to care for and support education about Lions. Complete with a walk through tunnel that allows you to see the middle of the habitat this exhibit is one of the more unique attractions on the Vegas Strip. At times you can even view the lions and their interactions with trainers. My favorite part of the lion habitat is playtime. Watching the lions and their trainers interact is a lovely statement on the bond between humans and animals. This attraction is also great because the younger members of your wedding party are welcome to visit and enjoy this piece of Vegas. The lion habitat also fits anyone’s time budget whether you’d like to stay awhile or just pass through quickly on your way to other MGM entertainment.

After any Vegas wedding everyone needs to pick up some souvenirs to remember the special day by. The best place to pick up souvenirs also happens to be one of the most fun Vegas landmarks.

Bonanza Gifts are the, “Purveyors of Las Vegas Pop Culture”. They carry anything and everything anyone needs to document their trip to Vegas. Why not go to the best in town for your post wedding Vegas t-shirts, pens and magnets? Bonanza is not just a place to grab some souvenirs it’s also a great place to view one very large and bright neon sign. While the sign is darkened after closing each night it is one fabulous neon piece of Las Vegas when it is shining bright.

Let Them Eat Candy...

Hello Kids...

Welcome back for another fun filled blog. Today I am covering one of my favorite topics, Candy. Not just regular everyday candy but the curious candies that will make your wedding guests gush. Each of these candies would make a great favor to give out at your wedding, they are all fun and even better very tasty.

Wild Wedding Candy:

#10 - Big Bite Gummy Bears - These large gummy treats offer a colorful and fun favor for all of your wedding guests. They offer a nostalgic feel but on a larger then life scale.

#9 - Boston Fruit Slices - These sweet slices remind wedding guests of their favorite fruits yet add an extra sweet flavor only a candy treat can provide. The colors are bright and varied to make your wedding extra bright.

#8 - Salt Water Taffy - Taffy colors tend to be a bit lighter, they offer a bit of pastel fun to any wedding day. For a chewy treat your guests will savor, salt water taffy is the perfect wedding favor.

#7 - Cinnamon Red Hots - Why not share your red hot love with your wedding guests by giving them this bright red sweet and hot candy as a favor. It makes a great and humorous sentiment and a tasty treat for the ride home.

#6 - Candy Coated Sunflower Seeds - These tiny treats fit right into my favorite wedding candy category which is the colorful category. They are bright, just the right amount of sweet and very unique. Why not treat your wedding guests to handfuls of this tasty treat?

#5 - Personalized M&M's - M&M's are always a welcome treat so why not celebrate your big day by adding your personal flair to a big pile of M&M's. Your guests will love your personal spin on this traditional treat.

#4 - Giant Lollipops - Nothing was quite as satisfying as a kid than getting a lollipop so big you could hide your face behind it. Bring a bit of child-like glee to your guests with these large, swirly and colorful treats.

#3 - Lifesavers - Lifesavers are the perfect wedding favor because they come prepackaged in small sizes. Simply add a new personalized sticker or a ribbon and tag to make these treats wedding ready.

#2 - String Rock Candy - Easier to package then rock candy on a stick this treat can add some extra sparkle and shine to your wedding festivities. It's also a unique treat that allows your wedding guest to take home some of that wedding sparkle.

#1 - Ring Pops - Ring pops are the perfect favor for a fun flashy wedding. They can be modified with stickers and offer guests the chance to be reminded of the vows your took while exchanging your own (however less flavorful) rings.

Overall every bride and groom have a wide selection of wedding favors to choose from. The most important thing about wedding favors is that they remind your guests that they are important and that their presence at your wedding was appreciated. When it comes to destination weddings a little thank you to your guests for their love, support and possibly crazy travel is a wonderful gesture. If you'd like to talk more about wedding favors please post your questions, comments and insights in the comments section.

Pinking Shears Meet Bride…Bride Meet Pinking Shears...

Hello Kids…

Welcome back!!! I have recently discovered the greatest tool in the DIY brides arsenal…Pinking Shears!!! I’ve never been a DIY type of person. I might do a small project from time to time but nothing as big as wedding party favors. Once I decided to create my wedding party favors by hand I had to do some research and that’s when I discovered pinking shears. They are great for adding flare and for covering up mistakes. I’m using them to edge the cloth treat bags and thank you tags for our party favors. However, the usefulness of pinking shears is almost an endless list. Here are some ways pinking shears can help a DIY bride…

Pinking Shears Can:

* Add flare and edging to Paper or Cloth Napkins, Table Cloths, Matchbooks or Wedding Favors.

* Help cover up cutting mistakes on DIY invitations or to simply add some texture to wedding invitations.

* Help the DIY bride create her own confetti.

* Add that extra touch to ribbons, programs and thank you notes.

As any DIY bride can tell you, being creative is much easier with the right tools and pinking shears are a GREAT tool. Our treat bags will be favors for our guests and will be filled with one mini-cupcake paper cup full of candy (so they have a snack for the plane ride home). Next time I’ll be covering fabulous and unexpected candy to use in wedding party favors.

If you would like to discuss DIY wedding tips and more please feel free to offer up your questions and comments!!!

Working Out For The Wedding...

Hello Kids...

I hope you all are enjoying the warm weather these days. I am taking advantage of it as much as possible. Our little pup Dutchess really loves all the sunshine. It seems that summer is a great push for helping people get in shape. But all of us brides out here have a very important reason to shape up and it has nothing to do with how you look in your dress or if you have perfect abs to go with your honeymoon bikini.

Wedding fitness for me is about being ready for all the fun. Building up energy and endurance will only make your wedding day easier. I have chosen to focus on endurance rather than weight loss or toning because for me the key is to be able to run around on my wedding day from the early morning hair and make-up to the late night on the Vegas Strip. I want to be ready for a long day of fun. When deciding on a wedding fitness plan you need to take into account your goals and current activity level and then you need to make a commitment. Results will not happen overnight so give yourself plenty of time to shape up. I began my fitness training this week. My wedding is still over a year away so I set a more short-term goal to keep me on track. Rather then focusing on my long off wedding day I'm focusing on participating in an endurance race that is 17 weeks away. By giving myself a non-wedding related goal I can keep some of the perfection stress a bay while I get used to working out. I should admit I hate working out and I have avoided doing it for 26 years. This is a huge commitment but in the long run I want to be healthy and happy on my wedding day and beyond.

By beginning now I can set an example and a pattern that my future children will learn. In this day and age being fit it key to survival both emotional and physical. I would encourage even those brides out there who are happy with their fitness level to push yourselves. Push to be a more fit and happy you...that glow on your wedding day can be helped along with make-up but the natural glow of a happy healthy bride is always optimal.

If you would like to discuss wedding fitness more please feel free to offer up your questions and comments!!!

School's Out For Summer...I'm Back...

Hello Kids...

I'm sorry for the long break this time; as usual pursuing my Masters Degree keeps me VERY busy!!! But now that school's out I can devote more and more of my time to the WEDDING!!! Which means more blogging. As I buckle up into the bridal drivers seat once again I am faced with a new and not so fun challenge...

The Budget FAIL...

Yes it's true do to a job change for my "Husband-to-Be" we've had to make some drastic changes. We are still hoping to make our 10 Thousand Dollar mark, however, we are preparing for the very real need to cut back. The first cut back and the biggest cut back has been really hard and we still don't have it settled. That cut back is the dreaded "Guest List Shrink," we've had to cut our original 100 person guest list to a mere 50 and if the budget continues to flounder that may have to be dropped to an all time low of 25. We then made yet another drastic cut and that was with the reception. We cut out dinner and went to a "Cake, Punch & Mingle," idea with casino hopping likely to follow. Doing these things has cut our budget by almost half. Which still leaves us with quite an up hill battle but at least a more manageable one. In honor of our budget FAIL we'd like to hear from all the brides out there. Please offer up some comments, advice or stories about how you saved money on your wedding!!!
